What is diarrhea?

Strong diarrhea: what to do?
Diarrhea can appear quickly and pass quickly. Acute diarrhea is said to last for a maximum of 14 days. There are many causes of diarrhea, but the most common are infections or the use of certain medications.
Among the most common factors causing acute diarrhea are: rotaviruses, adenoviruses, Norwalk factor, bacterial infections – including Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli, and Klebsiella.
Diarrhea caused by food or drinking water contaminated with bacteria, viruses or parasites is usually called travelers’ diarrhea. This condition is characteristic of people who often travel or leave to developing countries. Also, a drastic change in diet and type of food can cause stomach sensations in the form of diarrhea.
The cause of sudden and rapid diarrhea can be:
- alcohol abuse;
- eating foods that disrupt the digestive system;

In acute diarrhea, it is sufficient to take non-prescription drugs that suppress intestinal motility most often. You should also drink plenty of fluids and top up electrolytes to prevent dehydration. It is recommended to follow an easily digestible diet and consume small portions. Some foods may exacerbate diarrhea, stomach ache and cramps. During diarrhea, intolerance of sugars and protein contained in milk is most often observed, so it is best to avoid these products throughout the duration of diarrhea. Antibacterial agents may also be required.
Home remedies for diarrhea
There are a number of home ways to fight diarrhea. Most of them already knew our great-grandmothers and this knowledge passed down from generation to generation. it is recommended, for example, to make infusions of herbs such as chamomile, peppermint, wormwood, coriander, primrose and field clover. However, be careful and consult your physician about the use of certain herbs, because improper preparation may be unsafe.
For diarrhea, fresh or dried blueberries, berries will also be useful. They only need to be thoroughly washed before eating. The same applies to hands. It is also good if you are taking electrolytes.
